Psythe is Emile's Gallade in his Let's Play of Pokémon Platinum. He was the fourth Pokémon to join Emile's team.

Episode 18: Simply a Catch[]

Emile captured Psythe as a Ralts on Sinnoh Route 208. Supernova lulled him to sleep with Sing and weakened him to red HP via Magical Leaf before catching him using a Nest Ball. Psythe did not receive his nickname at the time of his capture.

After retrieving him from the PC, Emile equipped Psythe with the Exp Share, allowing him to gain experience when Acrobat fought Aroma Lade Hannah on Route 208 and Clown Lee in Hearthome City's Pokémon Center.

Episode 19: Heart is Where the Home is[]

Emile did training on Route 208, 207, and 206 in order to train Psythe thanks to the Exp Share. Psythe grew to Level 18 when Bodhi beat Hiker Kevin on Route 208. He was later raised to Level 19 when Bodhi defeated Cyclist Kayla on Route 206's Cycling Road.

Episode 20: Filling in The Dex[]

With the Exp Share, Psythe continued to gain experience as Emile fought his way through the Hearthome City Gym. He grew to Level 20 when Bodhi beat Lass Molly and her Misdreavus. This caused him to evolve into Kirlia. Psythe was subsequently elevated to Level 21 from an offscreen battle. Later, he was raised to Level 22 during Emile's battle with Gym Leader Fantina once Acrobat knocked out Fantina's Haunter. Psythe learned Magical Leaf at that level, which Emile replaced Double Team for.

Psythe's first onscreen battle was when Emile battled Alex and Kellz of The Dex. He was sent out alongside Bodhi (who was temporarily traded to Emile's Diamond save file) to fight Kellz's Golem and Alex's Alakazam: Ikora. After Bodhi took damage from a Psybeam from Ikora, he used Razor Leaf. This damaged both opposing Pokémon, getting a critical on Ikora (who was in mid yellow HP once it was healed by its Oran Berry). Golem also had an Oran Berry, which healed it to the high yellow area. Wanting to take out Ikora as soon as possible, Psythe focused on her with his Magical Leaf, though it only did a chip of damage.

The next turn, Bodhi was able to defeat Ikora and Golem (via pointless critical) simultaneously with his Razor Leaf due to his Quick Claw letting him move first. Kellz and Alex next sent out Audrey (Ponyta) and Prinplup respectively. Audrey promptly finished off Bodhi with Flame Wheel, while Prinplup took out more than half of Psythe's HP with Bubblebeam. He responded with Magical Leaf, doing about a third to the Water Type. After Emile sent out Supernova (who was also traded to Emile's Diamond save file for the battle), Psythe was defeated by another Bubblebeam from Prinplup. Regardless, Emile would eventually win the battle with Acrobat and Supernova.

Episode 21: With Us in Spiritomb[]

Psythe gained more experience from the Exp Share during Emile's third battle against Barry in the gatehouse linking Hearthome City and Route 209, growing to Level 23 when Bodhi defeated Barry's Buizel.

Psythe would take the field to fight Barry's Roselia. Although Roselia used Stun Spore to paralyze him, Psythe's Synchronize Ability caused Roselia to be paralyzed as well. That turn, his Confusion brought the Rose Pokémon to low green HP. On the following turn, Roselia drained a third of Psythe's health with Mega Drain, before his next Confusion lowered it to the red. After Roselia used a second Mega Drain to bring him to 20/57 Hit Points, Psythe would be fully paralyzed. Fortunately, he was able to endure a third Mega Drain with only 2 HP. Then, he would avoid full paralysis and deplete Roselia's health with Confusion, even with the Mega Drains healing it back to the high yellow area. Psythe was able to win the battle for Emile as a result.

After healing in Hearthome City, Emile continued onto Route 209, switching Psythe into the lead once Acrobat defeated Jogger Richard (from whom Psythe still gained experience from the Exp Share). Psythe and Bodhi battled together in the double battle against Twins Emma and Lil, who had Mime Jr. and Bonsly. While Bodhi was quick to knock out Mime Jr. via Bite, Psythe left Bonsly in the red zone with Magical Leaf. He remained undamaged though, as Bonsly attacked Bodhi with Low Kick for minimal damage before the Grass Type (after a Quick Claw activation) finished off the Rock Type with Mega Drain.

Psythe would struggle a bit against Poké Kid Danielle and her Pichu. The Electric Mouse used Sweet Kiss to confuse Psythe. However, he fought through and landed a Confusion attack to leave Pichu in yellow HP. The next turn, Pichu used Thunder Wave which not only paralyzed Psythe, but caused itself to be paralyzed as well due to Synchronize. Unluckily, Psythe would then hurt himself from the confusion. With both combatants paralyzed, a Speed tie occured, as the Psychic Type moved first, only to hit himself again (leaving him around 2/3 HP). Pichu would then use Nasty Plot to sharply raise its Special Attack. When Psythe hit himself a third time in a row (putting him into the yellow), Pichu would lower his Defense by using Tail Whip. The following turn, Pichu used a second Tail Whip. Thankfully, Psythe finally snapped out of confusion and avoided full paralysis to use another Confusion to finish off the Electric Mouse. This grew him to Level 24. Afterwards, Emile went back to the Pokémon Center to heal again.

On the same route, Emile accidentally encountered Jogger Raul, who had a Staravia which used Endeavor when Psythe was at full HP, causing the latter to only lose one Hit Point. Emile then had to battle Pokémon Breeder Jennifer. Psythe took out Jennifer's Budew unscathed with two Confusions, merely gaining Insomnia for his Ability when the Bud Pokémon used Worry Seed. Psythe also took no damage from Jennifer's Cleffa, since his first Confusion caused it to be confused and hit itself, leaving it open to be KO'd by a second Confusion. Next, Jennifer's Eevee used Growl when the first Confusion from Psythe left it with just over half health. Then, Psythe's second attack was a critical, taking Eevee out. Jennifer's last Pokémon was a Mime Jr. Psythe resorted to using Magical Leaf, doing about a third to the Mime Pokémon's HP each time. After the first two Magical Leafs, Mime Jr. used DoubleSlap. The first use hit Psythe five times, while the second use hit three times (getting a critical on the second hit). In spite of that, Psythe was still in low green health when he used a third Magical Leaf to defeat Mime Jr. thanks to a critical.

As Emile was going back to heal once again, he fought Pokémon Breeder Albert. During the battle, Psythe was raised to Level 25 and learned Calm Mind, which Emile taught in place of Lucky Chant.

Episode 22: Quantum of Solaceon[]

By the request of the Pokémon News Press in Solaceon Town, Emile traveled back to Oreburgh City to catch an Onix in the Oreburgh Mine. Psythe was in the lead when Emile encountered the Onix he would capture, only to be switched out for Derpidius. After Emile caught Onix, he tried to use Psythe's Teleport to warp straight back to Solaceon Town, but couldn't since he was inside the Oreburgh Mine. After stepping out of the mine, Emile tried again to no avail due to being in Oreburgh City instead of a route. Once Emile went onto Route 207, Psythe was finally able to use Teleport, only for it to warp Emile back to Oreburgh City instead of Solaceon Town because Emile healed at Oreburgh's Pokémon Center. Therefore, Emile had to ride his bicycle back to Solaceon. Along the way, Psythe grew to Level 26 from the Exp Share when Bodhi defeated Cowgirl Shelley on Route 209.

Once back in Solaceon, Emile showed the Poké Ball seals to create custom Poké Ball animations. Since Psythe was in the lead, he was shown as Emile demonstrated the animations.

Episode 23: Where the Lost Ones Go[]

Psythe was raised to Level 27 offscreen. Emile also gave him seals to make hearts appear in his Poké Ball animation.

Emile used Psythe and Supernova (who was also given Poké Ball seals) together in a double battle with Young Couple Mike and Nat on the fourth floor of the Lost Tower. The couple used Murkrow and Misdreavus, which quickly reduced Psythe to a tad of red health with Pursuit and Astonish. Psythe fought back with a Confusion on Misdreavus, taking off a quarter of its HP and confusing it. Meanwhile, Supernova did just more than half of Murkrow's health with a Return. The next turn, Murkrow oddly neglected to KO Psythe with Wing Attack and instead hit Supernova for only about a quarter of her HP. Misdreavus then fell into the yellow zone with combined damage from hurting itself in confusion and Psythe's Confusion attack. Following that, Supernova KO'd Murkrow with another Return. Emile next decided to heal Psythe with a Super Potion. On that turn, Misdreavus fainted from hitting itself again in conjunction with Supernova's Magical Leaf to give Emile the victory.

Psythe was elevated to Level 28 from the Exp Share, likely as Emile fought more trainers on the way out of the Lost Tower. After healing in Solaceon Town, he went to Route 210, where he fought Twins Teri and Tia in an omitted battle with Psythe and Supernova. Then as Emile fought Pokémon Breeder Kahlil, Psythe was elevated to Level 29 when Supernova knocked out Kahlil's Happiny. He earned more experience that way in other trainer battles on Route 210 and in the Café Cabin.

Episode 24: Rainy Mood[]

Psythe's nickname was revealed during the battle with Ruin Maniac Calvin on Route 215. He was initially sent out again Calvin's Bronzor, but switched out for Acrobat. He continued to gain experience with the Exp Share, being raised to Level 30 when Bodhi knocked out Calvin's Shieldon. After the battle, Psythe began to evolve, but Emile cancelled the evolution, revealing that he will eventually evolve into Gallade instead of Gardevoir in order to compliment his boosted Attack from his Brave Nature.

After beating a Black Belt later on Route 215, Emile swapped Psythe and Supernova's hold items, giving the former the Meadow Plate and the latter the Exp Share. Then, during a mostly omitted battle with Jogger Scott, Psythe took only 11 HP of damage from an Endeavor courtesy of Scott's Staravia. Because of how ineffective the move was with Psythe being at full HP, Emile described the move as a "pointless endeavor." Psythe would KO the Bird Pokémon with Confusion.

Once Emile got a Full Heal and Psythe encountered a wild Pokémon offscreen, he and Acrobat led Emile's battle against Ace Trainers Dennis and Maya, starting off with Gligar and Roselia. Acrobat used Air Cutter to damage both opposing Pokémon, doing a quarter to Gligar and most of Roselia's health. Gligar reduced Psythe to yellow HP before he used Confusion to finish off Roselia. When Maya sent out her Ralts, Acrobat focused on Gligar with Bite, flinching it. This allowed Psythe's subsequent Magical Leaf to bring the Ground/Flying Type to red HP. The same turn, Ralts used Double Team to raise its evasiveness. Acrobat next used Air Cutter to take out Gligar, whilst Ralts evaded the move due to the Double Team. However, Psythe's Magical Leaf being incapable of missing alleviated the boosted evasion, taking out most of Ralts's health.

Dennis's next Pokémon was Drifblim. While Acrobat did get off a Bite to bring the Balloon Pokémon to the yellow zone, the attack didn't flinch it. This allowed Drifblim to knock out Psythe with Ominous Wind.

Psythe was later healed at Veilstone City's Pokémon Center once Emile made it.

Episode 27: The Dawn of Time[]

Because Emile didn't want to teach Fly to Acrobat, and the Drifloon in his PC couldn't learn the move, he went to capture a Staravia in the wild. Psythe weakened it to the red while taking 47 HP of damage, before Emile caught the Bird Pokémon in a Great Ball.

Emile later hunted for Unown in the Solaceon Ruins offscreen to obtain all 26 letter forms. During the process, Psythe grew to Level 31 and learned Psychic for which Emile overwrote Confusion. After making through the Maniac Tunnel to reach the previously inaccessible room of the Solaceon Ruins, Emile found a !-form Unown, which Psythe weakened to half HP with his newly learned Psychic. The Unown did 12 HP back to Psythe before it was captured in a Premier Ball. Emile's very next encounter was a ?-form Unown. Psythe reduced it to the low yellow zone while taking eight HP from Hidden Power. Another Premier Ball then caught it to complete Emile's collection of Unown.

As Emile journeyed on Route 214, he led with Psythe in an offscreen battle, but he fainted.

Episode 28: The Pastoria Symphony[]

Emile healed Psythe and the rest of his team at the hotel on Route 213 before visiting Dr. Footsteps's house. There, Dr. Footsteps examined Psythe and rewarded him a Footprint Ribbon for his strong relationship with Emile.

After arriving and healing in Pastoria City, Emile briefly went onto Route 212 where he found a hidden Dawn Stone in the marsh. He then used it to evolve Psythe into Gallade, who tried to learn Psycho Cut afterwards. Emile deleted Teleport to make room for it.

Next, Emile went to the Move Reminder in Pastoria, who taught Psythe Leaf Blade (in place of Magical Leaf) and Night Slash (in place of Calm Mind) in exchange for one Heart Scale each.

Psythe shone greatly during his first battle as a Gallade, which was Emile's fourth battle with Barry in front of the Pastoria City Gym. Psythe one hit KO'd Barry's Monferno with a critical Psycho Cut. Barry's Buizel did 24 HP to Psythe with Aqua Jet before he used Leaf Blade to KO the Sea Weasel in one shot, also scoring a critical hit. Finally, Psythe used Psycho Cut once more to beat Barry's Roselia in one hit (albeit without a critical).

Episode 30: Crashing and Burning[]

Psythe was raised to Level 32 from offscreen training against the other trainers in the Pastoria City Gym.

Psythe was used in Emile's battle with Gym Leader Crasher Wake. He came out after Wake's Gyarados knocked out Supernova and Acrobat, and as it was at a sliver of red health. After Wake healed Gyarados with a Hyper Potion, Psythe did about a third to it with Leaf Blade. The next turn, the Sea Serpent snapped out of confusion (having been confused by Acrobat earlier) and used Waterfall, dealing 60 HP to Psythe. While the attack flinched him, it triggered his Steadfast Ability to boost his Speed, allowing him to be faster on the following turn, as he used Psycho Cut. Unfortunately, the attack wasn't enough to KO the Water/Flying Type (leaving it in the red zone), as it defeated Psythe with one more Waterfall. Emile ended up losing the battle due to Bodhi being the last conscious main Pokémon. Though he KO'd Gyarados, he was quad weak to Ice Fang from Wake's Floatzel and immediately fainted from said attack.

On the second attempt, Psythe took the field to fight Wake's Floatzel after Acrobat managed to KO Gyarados. Floatzel used Crunch, which did just less than half of Psythe's HP, but lowered his Defense. Psythe responded with Leaf Blade, nearly one shotting the Sea Weasel. It endured in the red zone, before being healed to the yellow by its equipped Sitrus Berry. However, Floatzel would next use Aqua Jet, which depleted Psythe's health due to his lowered Defense from the Crunch. Even with Psythe fainting, Emile ultimately prevailed and won the battle.

Episode 31: Past Pastoria[]

On Route 212, Emile stopped at the Move Tutor's house. There, he taught Psythe Vacuum Wave in place of Psychic. Further along the route, Emile fought Collector Dean. Psythe battled Dean's Espeon, taking a Quick Attack with ease before OHKOing it with Night Slash.

Later, Emile switched Psythe into the lead, allowing him and Supernova to fight together against Pokémon Rangers Allison and Jeffrey. The Rangers led with Marill and Monferno respectively. Psythe quickly beat Monferno with a single Psycho Cut, whilst Supernova used Metronome. It yielded Rock Slide, which missed Marill, allowing it to use Aqua Ring. On the next turn, Psythe used Leaf Blade to knock out Marill, while Supernova's next Metronome was wasted due to it giving Seed Bomb. Allison's last Pokémon was Leafeon. Psythe brought it down to half health with Psycho Cut, while he and Supernova took minimal damage from the Grass Type's Razor Leaf. After Supernova's Metronome yielded Perish Song, causing all of the Pokémon's Perish Counts to drop to three at the end of the turn, Psythe finished off Leafeon with another Psycho Cut.

Episode 32: Maid with Love[]

In the Trophy Garden in the back of the Pokémon Mansion, Psythe encountered a wild Pichu but fled from it.

Emile used Psythe in the 5 Maid Knockout Exact Turn Attack Challenge. It took Emile six attempts for him to finish the challenge in the exact number of turns, which was 8 for the target number on his successful run. During the process, Psythe took minimal damage from the Maids' Clefairy and grew to Level 33 in the process. Emile proceeded to battle Rich Boy Liam and his Blissey afterwards. Psythe two hit KO'd Blissey with Psycho Cut, whilst he took only four Hit Points of damage when Blissey used Fling to throw its Rare Candy.

On the way out of the Pokémon Mansion, Emile battled Rich Boy Jason and Lady Melissa using Psythe and Supernova in tandem. Psythe immediately defeated Jason's Prinplup with a single Leaf Blade, preventing the Penguin from executing an attack boosted by Helping Hand courtesy of Melissa's Cherubi. After Prinplup's faint, Supernova's Metronome gave it Conversion, transforming her into an Electric Type. On the following turn, Psythe did half of Cherubi's HP with Vacuum Wave, while Supernova followed with Thunderbolt. With STAB as a result of the Conversion, Supernova's Thunderbolt managed to defeat Cherubi and end the battle. Following that battle, Psythe took part in an offscreen battle against Policeman Caleb near the Pokémon Mansion's entrance.

Back on Route 212, Emile battled Gentleman Jeremy, with Psythe beating his Chatot in one hit with Night Slash. This elevated him to Level 34. Psythe also battled another Policeman offscreen.

Episode 33: Foggy Dilemma[]

As Emile traveled further onto Route 210, he battled Ace Trainer Alyssa. Psythe came out to fight Alyssa's Girafarig. While he took four HP of damage offscreen, Psythe continued to dominate, knocking out Girafarig in one hit with Night Slash to finish the battle.

Emile sent out Psythe against Ninja Boy Davido's Mothim after it KO'd Acrobat. With the Moth Pokémon at only a sliver of red HP, Psythe presumably used Vacuum Wave to take it out. For Black Belt Adam, Emile led with Psythe, as he went on to OHKO Adam's Machoke with Psycho Cut, raising him to Level 35 as a result.

In the mostly cut fight with Ninja Boy Nathan, Psythe took some damage from Nathan's Stunky, but managed to beat it. Emile then switched him out for Supernova when Nathan sent out his Golbat. Then in the battle with Bird Keeper Brianna, Psythe immediately one hit KO'd Brianna's Hoothoot with Psycho Cut before Emile switched him out for Supernova once again when Brianna sent out her Noctowl.

At the end of the route, Emile accidentally entered the tall grass near the Celestic Town sign and encountered a wild Machop. Psythe defeated it with Psycho Cut before Emile went into Celestic Town itself, where he healed his team at the Pokémon Center.

Episode 34: Celestic Legends[]

Emile confronted the Team Galactic Grunt guarding the entrance to the Celestic Ruins. Psythe took out the Grunt's Houndour with two Vacuum Waves, whilst losing 20 HP to Houndour's Fire Fang. For the Grunt's Golbat, he outsped it and defeated it with one Psycho Cut.

After healing, Emile went inside the Celestic Ruins, where he fought Galactic Boss Cyrus for the first time when he confronted Cynthia's grandmother and threatened to destroy the cave's painting of the Lake Guardians. Psythe was sent out after Supernova's untimely faint courtesy of Cyrus's Sneasel. He used Vacuum Wave to move first. The move's quad effectiveness, in addition to a critical hit managed to defeat Sneasel in one shot. Psythe remained in battle for Cyrus's Golbat, which he took out in one hit with Psycho Cut after losing 32 Hit Points from Air Cutter. The resulting experience grew Psythe to Level 36, when he tried to learn Helping Hand, to which Emile declined. He then swapped out Psythe for Acrobat when Cyrus sent out his Murkrow.

Psythe came out again after Murkrow had beaten Acrobat. With Murkrow in the yellow zone, Psythe tried to finish it off with Leaf Blade, but the Darkness Pokémon defeated him with the super effective Drill Peck before he got the chance to attack. Regardless, Bodhi was able to win the battle for Emile, after which he healed Psythe and the rest of his team at the Pokémon Center again.

On the section of Route 211 east of Mt. Coronet, Emile gave Psythe a Carbos to raise his base Speed to make up for his Brave Nature lowering his Speed.

Episode 35: Riding the Beaver[]

As Emile traveled on the newly accessible Route 220 with Surf, he fought Swimmer Adrian. Psythe came out for Adrian's Tentacool, which he quickly took out with a Psycho Cut (getting a critical pointlessly). Emile then switched out Psythe for Bodhi when Adrian sent out his Octillery. Later, Emile gave Psythe a Carbos to raise his base Speed, which he found on the same route.

On the subsequent Route 221, Emile battled Ace Trainer Jake. He used Psythe against Jake's Girafarig, nearly one shotting it with Night Slash. Psythe only took 30 HP from a Psychic before his Vacuum Wave took out the Giraffe Pokémon.

Episode 36: Hasta Fuego![]

Inside the Fuego Ironworks, Emile boosted Psythe's base Attack with a Protein.

Episodes 35 and 36[]

Psythe was raised to Level 37 and healed offscreen. As Emile returned to Route 221 later to retrieve items he missed on his first visit, he found and gave another Carbos to boost Psythe's base Speed. Since both Episode 35 and 36 involved Emile exploring the newly accessible areas with Surf, both episodes featured clips when Psythe was still Level 36, and moments after he reached Level 37.

Episode 37: Route Canalave[]

In Canalave City, Emile fought Barry for the fifth time. Psythe came out to battle Barry's last Pokémon: Roserade. He lost only 30 of his 112 HP to Roserade's Giga Drain before he one shot it with a Psycho Cut to finish the battle and give Emile the victory.

Episode 38: Iron Men[]

In Iron Island, Emile sent out Psythe in the battle against Camper Lawrence after his Floatzel weakened Supernova significantly. Psythe lost about half his HP from Aqua Jet switching in, combined with Floatzel's Crunch on the next turn before he defeated the Sea Weasel with a single Leaf Blade.

Later, Emile joined forces with Riley deeper into the mine to participate in several more battles. Emile used Psythe alongside Riley's Lucario in the battle against Ace Trainers Jonah and Brenda, who began with Quagsire and Lopunny respectively. Lopunny did about a quarter of Psythe's health using Dizzy Punch. Lucario brought Quagsire to the low green zone with Force Palm (which also paralyzed it) before Psythe depleted the Water/Ground Type's health with Leaf Blade. Jonah's second Pokémon was Hippopotas, whose Sand Stream Ability brewed up a sandstorm. While Lopunny brought Lucario down to yellow HP with its Jump Kick, the Aura Pokémon nearly took out Hippopotas using Force Palm before Psythe's Leaf Blade got the KO. After the experience brought him to Level 38, Psythe and Lopunny were both damaged by the sandstorm (whilst Lucario was unaffected).

Jonah's last Pokémon was Staraptor, whose Intimidate cut Psythe's and Lucario's Attack stats. That turn, Lopunny beat Lucario with another Jump Kick. Meanwhile, Staraptor used Close Combat on Psythe, which was resisted (and causing its own Defense and Special Defense to drop, thereby negating the Intimidate). Psythe responded with Psycho Cut, dropping the Bird Pokemon to the red zone, combined with the sandstorm damage. The sandstorm also hit Psythe (leaving him in mid yellow HP) and Lopunny (giving it a little less than full health). The following turn, Psythe used Vacuum Wave in order to knock out Staraptor. Unfortunately, Psythe would faint as well when Lopunny used another Dizzy Punch. While he endured the hit, the sandstorm took out his remaining HP (whilst Lopunny was buffeted again). However, Psythe was instantly revived after the battle thanks to Riley keeping Emile's party healthy.

Episode 39: I LOVE BYRON!![]

Emile used Psythe during his battle against Canalave Gym Leader Byron, sending him out to fight Byron's Steelix (likely due to it knowing Ice Fang, which is 4x effective on Bodhi). Psythe took off a third of Steelix's HP with Vacuum Wave before an Earthquake did more than half of his own health. The next turn, he resorted to using Leaf Blade, which did less than Vacuum Wave and only put the Iron Snake just below half (in the high yellow). As a result, Psythe would then faint to Steelix's next Earthquake. In spite of that, Bodhi managed to defeat Steelix and eventually win the battle for Emile.

Episode 40: Huffin' and Poffin[]

Emile and Yoshiller battled each other, with Psythe leading off the battle for Emile and Bradley starting off with his Altaria: Nimbasa. Psythe lost only 28 of his 115 HP to Nimbasa's Steel Wing before his retaliatory Psycho Cut brought the Cotton Bird to the yellow. Nimbasa next used Pluck for a super effective hit. Miraculously, Psythe survived the hit in the red, enabling him to defeat Nimbasa with a second Psycho Cut. Bradley's next Pokémon was Goldberg the Quagsire, which was swiftly KO'd by Psythe's 4x effective Leaf Blade.

Bradley then sent out Yiscor the Gliscor as his third Pokémon. He used Swords Dance to sharply raise his Attack while Psythe dropped him to the low green zone with his Psycho Cut. Yiscor then KO'd Psythe with Night Slash before proceeding to defeat Acrobat and Supernova as well. However, Emile ultimately won the battle because Bradley wanted Emile to see what his last Pokémon was: Cairo the Lucario. As such, Yiscor didn't knock out Bodhi when it could've very easily done so with Ice Fang.

Episode 41: Lake Inferior[]

Emile used Psythe and Acrobat in the mostly cut battle against Veteran Grant on the lowest floor of Oreburgh Gate. Psythe took no damage in the process.

As Emile was rushing from Pastoria City to Lake Valor in order to investigate the explosion set off by Team Galactic, he was inconvenienced by Tuber Jared on Route 213, who challenged him to a battle. Psythe defeated Jared's three Shellos offscreen (two East Sea forms and one West Sea form).

Once at the dried up Lake Valor, Emile fought the Team Galactic Grunts. Psythe took out the first Grunt's Glameow with a single Psycho Cut, taking no damage and being elevated to Level 39. He tried to learn Feint at that level, but Emile passed on it. Emile then withdrew Psythe in favor of Acrobat when the Grunt sent out her Murkrow. Psythe next fought the other two Galactic Grunts offscreen, taking no damage from the second Grunt (who had a Golbat) and only minor damage from the third Grunt (who had a Croagunk, Houndour, Glameow, and Stunky).

Galactic Commander Saturn was the next one Emile fought inside the Valor Cavern. Psythe quickly one shot Saturn's Golbat with Psycho Cut after taking 36 HP of damage from a super effective Air Cutter. Emile switched him out for Supernova when Saturn sent out his Bronzor. Psythe retook the field against Saturn's ace Pokémon: Toxicroak. Unluckily, it knocked out Psythe with Poison Jab before he could attack. Even so, Emile would win the battle using Acrobat.

Afterwards, Emile returned to Twinleaf Town to visit his in game mother Johanna, who healed Psythe and his teammates.

Episode 42: Defending the Homeland[]

Psythe was notably used when Emile battled Team Galactic at Lake Verity. He and Bodhi fought the first pair of Galactic Grunts, with the male only having a Croagunk, and the female having three Pokémon (the first of which being a Glameow). While Glameow hit and flinched Psythe with Fake Out, it activated his Steadfast Ability to raise his Speed. Glameow then fell in one hit to Bodhi's Wood Hammer (after his Quick Claw activated). Bodhi lost slightly more HP than Psythe from the Wood Hammer recoil and Croagunk's Mud Bomb (which was resisted). The female Grunt's next Pokémon was Golbat, prompting Emile to switch out Bodhi for Acrobat. That turn, Croagunk failed with its Sucker Punch due to it targeting Bodhi. The Poison/Fighting Type was then defeated by Psythe's Psycho Cut. While he did fall to yellow HP from a super effective Wing Attack by Golbat, Psythe and Acrobat would knock out the opposing Bat with combined damage from Acrobat's own Wing Attack and Psycho Cut. With the female Grunt's last Pokémon being a Murkrow, Psythe used the increased priority Vacuum Wave to move first. Said move along with Acrobat's Cross Poison did enough combined damage to KO it in one turn.

After Emile healed him, Psythe participated in the mostly cut battle against the second pair of Team Galactic Grunts, alongside Bodhi and Acrobat. He took no damage in the battle.

Psythe then fought in Emile's second battle with Galactic Commander Mars. He only lost 36 Hit Points to an Air Cutter from Mars's Golbat before OHKOing it with Psycho Cut, growing to Level 40 as a result. Emile switched out Psythe for Supernova when Mars sent out her Bronzor. Psythe was later sent out again for Mars' Purugly. The Tiger Cat used Fake Out to flinch him and drop him to the yellow, preventing him from using Vacuum Wave due to higher priority. However, the Steadfast Speed boost allowed Psythe to be faster on the next turn, as he brought Purugly to the low yellow with Psycho Cut, before the Feline was healed to the high yellow via its Sitrus Berry. Purugly managed to put Psythe to sleep with Hypnosis, forcing Emile to wake him up on the next turn using a Chesto Berry. While Purugly used Slash and dropped Psythe to only 10/121 HP, he managed to finish off the Feline Pokémon with another Psycho Cut which got a critical, winning Emile the battle.

Once Emile defeated Mars and Team Galactic left, he began Surfing on the water of Lake Verity. Psythe encountered a wild Psyduck but fled from it before Emile used a Repel.

Episode 43: Feeble Grind[]

Emile had Psythe in the lead as he searched the basement floor of Mt. Coronet for Feebas. He encountered many Magikarp and Barboaches, which Psythe either KO'd or ran from. During the process, Psythe took minimal damage and was elevated two levels to Level 42. Emile eventually switched Psythe out of the lead for Acrobat, who would be sent out when he found a Feebas tile after only two columns. One of the Feebas Emile caught would become Vanity, joining the team as Emile's fifth Pokémon.

Episode 44: Snow to Anger[]

Psythe was in the lead slot of Emile's party has he traversed the snowy Route 216. The first trainer Emile fought was Ace Trainer Maria, who led with a Golduck. Psythe swiftly took it down with Leaf Blade, losing only eight HP to the ongoing Hail at the end of the turn. Emile then switched him out for Supernova when Maria sent out her Rapidash. After encountering a wild Snover, Psythe fought against the next trainer: Ace Trainer Blake, who opened with Ambipom. The Normal Type did a notable amount to Psythe's health before he knocked it out with Psycho Cut. After the Hail damage, Psythe was left with just over a third of his HP. Emile switched him out for Bodhi when Blake sent out his Porygon2. The next battle was with Ace Trainer Laura, who had a Tropius. Due to his Type disadvantage against the Grass/Flying Type, in conjunction with his low HP, Emile switched out Psythe for Acrobat.

Following the battle with Ace Trainer Laura, Emile healed Psythe's HP to full. However, this didn't prove pressing as Emile stopped at the Snowbound Lodge near the end of the route to heal up the rest of his party. The last trainer on the route was Ace Trainer Garrett, which was mostly omitted. Psythe presumably took out Garrett's Mr. Mime and Dusclops before allowing Acrobat to deal with Garrett's Scyther. Afterwards, Emile went back to the lodge to heal again.

When Emile continued onto Route 217, the first trainer on the route was Ace Trainer Dalton, who led with Electabuzz. Emile immediately switched Psythe out in favor of Bodhi. Psythe was sent out again for Dalton's Magmar. His Psycho Cut left Magmar with a sliver of red HP, while it responded by using Will-O-Wisp to burn him. However, the burn didn't affect Psythe at all. While the Hail did eight HP to him at the end of the turn, it also took out the last of Magmar's HP to end the battle. Emile then healed Psythe's burn before proceeding.

Psythe continued to take on several trainers on Route 217, including Ninja Boy Matthew which was mostly cut. Psythe easily KO'd his Golbat with Psycho Cut. Skier Shawn had three Snovers, prompting Emile to switch out Psythe for Supernova to take them out. The next trainer was Skier Bjorn, whose Swinub was defeated in one shot by a critical Vacuum Wave. The rest of the battle was cut, but Psythe presumably KO'd Bjorn's Sneasel as well, whilst taking minor damage from the Hail. Psythe again took Hail damage in the omitted battle with Ninja Boy Ethan, but also grew to Level 43. Then in the battle with Skier Lexie, Psythe used Leaf Blade to one shot Lexie's Piloswine, losing another eight HP to Hail damage as the turn ended. Emile then switched out Psythe for Supernova as Lexie sent out her Glaceon.

Near the end of Route 217, Emile battled Black Belt Luke. Psythe presumably KO'd Luke's Croagunk (and took Hail damage) before being switched out for Acrobat to fight Luke's Machoke and Riolu. For Ace Trainer Olivia, he OHKO'd her Kirlia with Night Slash. After Psythe was lowered to 73/134 Hit Points after the Hail pelted him, he was switched out for Bodhi when Olivia sent out her Buneary. Psythe reentered the battle for Olivia's Seaking, which he was also able to OHKO with Leaf Blade. Emile then backtracked to battle Skier Madison and her Snorunt using Psythe. Madison ended up being the last trainer Emile fought on the route.

Episode 45: Snowpoint-less[]

As Emile visited the Move Tutor in Snowpoint City, he checked what moves his team could learn to see if there was anything that was appealing. All Psythe could learn was Snore, Swift, and Helping Hand. Later, Emile healed Psythe and his teammates at Snowpoint's Pokémon Center (due to them not being fully healed from the previous episode) before challenging the Gym.

With the Snowpoint Gym specializing in Ice Types, Psythe led all of Emile's battles against the trainers. The first trainer was Ace Trainer Alicia, who had two Sneasels. Psythe KO'd both of them with two Vacuum Waves each, losing 27 HP to the first Sneasel's Slash, and merely having his Defense lowered two stages by a Screech from the second Sneasel. Psythe also fought Ace Trainers Savannah and Isaiah offscreen, taking a notable amount of damage in each. As Emile defeated Isaiah and his Piloswine, Psythe was raised to Level 44. Emile then left the Gym to heal before battling Snowpoint Gym Leader Candice. He switched Psythe out of the lead for Supernova to open the battle.

Psythe came out to fight Candice's ace Pokémon: Froslass, after her Abomasnow summoned Hail from its Snow Warning Ability. Because of that, Froslass's Snow Cloak Ability was activated to give it an evasion boost. The Ice/Ghost Type used Double Team on its first turn to raise its evasiveness even more, causing Psythe's Night Slash to miss (with him taking damage from the Hail as the turn ended). While Froslass used a second Double Team, Psythe connected with Night Slash that turn, dropping it to red HP before its Sitrus Berry healed it to the yellow (with Psythe being damaged by Hail again). The next turn, Froslass used Blizzard, which was 100% accurate in the Hail. Luckily, Psythe took the hit in low green health before his next Night Slash landed and finished of the Snow Land Pokémon. While Psythe was dropped into the yellow zone from the Hail at the end of the turn, Emile switched him out for Vanity when Candice sent out her Piloswine.

Once Emile defeated Candice, he went to heal Psythe and the rest of the team at the Pokémon Center again.

Episode 46: Contest Rules[]

Psythe was used in Emile's second battle against Marriland, facing Devin's Quagsire: Slippers, who was weakened to yellow HP by Acrobat before knocking the latter out. Predicting Devin would switch out Slippers, Emile commanded Psythe to use Psycho Cut instead of Leaf Blade. However, Devin didn't switch, and the planned Psycho Cut dispatched Slippers thanks to a critical hit.

Devin's next Pokémon was Extremely the Leafeon, which dropped Psythe to below half health with a critical Bite. While the attack flinched Psythe, the resulting Steadfast Speed boost allowed him to be faster on the next turn, when he retaliated with Psycho Cut. Said attack put Extremely into the low green zone before he knocked out Psythe with a critical Razor Leaf. Emile ultimately lost to Devin after the rather long and interesting battle.

Episode 47: Better Lake Than Never[]

As Emile revisited places around Sinnoh to obtain newly available items with the HM Rock Climb, Psythe took part in an offscreen battle (possibly on Route 210), taking minimal damage.

Episode 48: Galactic Center[]

When Emile fought his way through Team Galactic's HQ in Veilstone City, he encountered numerous Galactic Grunts. Psythe was used in a battle with one of the Grunt's, easily knocking out his Croagunk with a 4x effective Psycho Cut.

Episode 49: Head Honchkrow[]

As Emile continued through the Team Galactic HQ in Veilstone City, he healed Psythe and the rest of his team in the Nap Room. Then, as Emile prepared for his second battle with Cyrus in his office, he gave several vitamins he found to his team. Psythe received two Proteins to increase his base Attack.

In the battle with the Galactic Boss himself, Psythe was sent out against Cyrus's Sneasel after Acrobat's untimely faint due to Sneasel freezing and getting a critical with its Ice Punch (which eerily happened to Supernova in the previous battle with Cyrus). With the Dark/Ice Type at about one quarter of its HP remaining, Psythe managed to defeat it using the increased priority and quad effective Vacuum Wave. Psythe remained in battle for Cyrus's Crobat, which used Air Cutter. He took it with slightly more than 2/3 of his health before his Psycho Cut one hit KO'd it. Emile switched out Psythe in favor of Vanity when Cyrus sent out his strongest Pokémon: Honchkrow. Psythe took the field again after Honchkrow had beaten Vanity. The Big Boss Pokémon was in mid yellow HP after its equipped Sitrus Berry healed it. Psythe attempted to finish it off with Leaf Blade, but the resisted attack only put Honchkrow in the red before it used the super effective Drill Peck to defeat him.

After Emile won against Cyrus, he returned to the nap room to heal again before proceeding into the lab where Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit were held hostage. There, he fought Galactic Commander Saturn for a second time. Psythe took the field for Saturn's Bronzor due to Supernova not having Fire Blast at the time. His Night Slash did just less than half of the Bronze Pokémon's health before it confused him with Confuse Ray. This caused Psythe to hit himself in confusion, taking off 48 of his 138 Hit Points combined with Bronzor's super effective Shadow Ball. Fortunately, Psythe broke through the confusion and landed his next Night Slash to put the Steel/Psychic Type into the red zone. Upon losing only 18 more HP from another Shadow Ball, Psythe snapped out of confusion completely on the following turn and used a third Night Slash to KO Bronzor and win the battle for Emile.

Episode 50: Coronet Rock[]

Psythe was used in battle when Emile trekked his way up Mt. Coronet in chase of Team Galactic. He used one Power Point for Psycho Cut in an offscreen battle, in which he OHKO'd one of the Pokémon from a Galactic Grunt without taking damage. Later, Psythe was sent out in place of Bodhi when he fought the last Galactic Grunt (who opened with a Golbat) before the Spear Pillar entrance on the sixth floor. With the Grunt's Golbat merely using Mean Look on the turn Psythe switched in, he remained unscathed as he took out both the Bat Pokémon and the Grunt's Croagunk (the latter with a pointless critical) using one Psycho Cut each. Emile then withdrew Psythe for Vanity when the Grunt sent out her Murkrow.

Episode 52: Distortion World[]

In the Distortion World, Emile had his last battle against Cyrus. Psythe was used to fight Cyrus's Weavile. The Dark/Ice Type began with Fake Out, doing about 29 HP to Psythe, whose Speed was boosted due to the flinch activating Steadfast. The next turn, Psythe used the quad effective Vacuum Wave, reducing Weavile to just above half, while its retaliatory Ice Punch put Psythe down to only 30/138 Hit Points. Emile commanded Psythe to use Leaf Blade next, which proved futile since the Steadfast Speed boost wasn't enough for Psythe to outspeed Weavile. As such, he fainted to a Night Slash that turn (which also got a critical that wouldn't have mattered anyways).

Once Emile defeated Cyrus, Cynthia healed his team (including Psythe).

Episode 54: Willpower Trip[]

Psythe was used when Emile tried to catch Azelf in the cavern of Lake Valor. He was switched in after Supernova fainted. Emile tossed at least one failed Ultra Ball as Psythe was on the field before he himself would faint offscreen. Regardless, Emile ultimately caught Azelf in another Ultra Ball when Eidolon was sent out again.

Episode 57: The Untraveled Road[]

On Route 222, Psythe fought Fisherman Brett, knocking out all three of his Pokemon (Magikarp, Finneon, and Feebas) with one Leaf Blade each. Psythe grew to Level 45 from defeating Finneon and tried to learn False Swipe, only for Emile to decline.

Inside the Pikachu Fan Club's house on the same route, Emile battled Poke Kid Janet. Psythe dispatched both of Janet's Pikachus with one Psycho Cut each. The second Pikachu was faster than Psythe unlike the first, but it only used Feint to no effect.

Psythe defeated a wild Floatzel offscreen, taking minor damage. He next battled Sailor Luther, OHKOing his Wingull with a critical Psycho Cut, then one shotting both Luther's West Sea Gastrodon and Machoke with Leaf Blade and Psycho Cut respectively. Afterwards, Emile went around to an area to reach some items (mostly hidden) in the extra patches of grass, which require Surf and/or Rock Smash to reach. Psythe encountered at least two wild Pokémon before defeating another Floatzel, whilst taking minimal damage again. He also ran into a wild Luxio which Emile fled from.

Once Emile arrived at Sunyshore City's Pokémon Center, Psythe and the rest of Emile's team were healed.

Episode 58: The Shore is Always Sunny[]

Psythe and the rest of Emile's team were temporarily deposited in the PC as Emile briefly returned to Solaceon Town to show a boy various forms of Unown in order to receive Poke Ball Seals.

Episode 59: City Volkner[]

Emile took Psythe and the rest of his team out of the PC offscreen.

Psythe was sent out when Emile battled Ace Trainer Destiny in the Sunyshore Gym after Bodhi was partially weakened and had his Defense lowered by Destiny's Electabuzz before it was KO'd. Destiny's last Pokémon was Raichu, which began by using Light Screen. While Psythe's Psycho Cut barely failed to one hit KO, he followed with Vacuum Wave to finish off the Mouse Pokémon. The resulting experience elevated Psythe to Level 46. Psythe also fought Poke Kid Meghan, defeating at least one of her Pikachus.

During the battle against Sunyshore Gym Leader Volkner, Psythe was sent out to battle Volkner's last and strongest Pokémon: Electivire, after it knocked out Eidolon. The Electric Type was a little below half HP and burned thanks to Eidolon's efforts. Electivire used Giga Impact, but it only took off 50 of Psythe's 144 Hit Points due to the burn halving its Attack. This enabled Psythe to finish it off with Psycho Cut, winning Emile the battle and the Beacon Badge.

Episode 60: Keep Your Wittz About You[]

Emile led his battle against JWittz with Psythe, whilst Josh led with his Empoleon: Wombo. Psythe tried to use Leaf Blade, but Josh switched over to his Scizor: Blur, who easily took the hit due to being quad resistant. While Psythe did slightly more damage with Vacuum Wave on the next turn, it only left Blur at 3/4 HP before he responded with an X Scissor which did more than half of the Blade Pokémon's health. As such, Emile switched out Psythe for Acrobat.

Later, Emile sent out Psythe against Josh's Houndoom: SilentWolf, after Eidolon fainted. With the Dark/Fire Type already weakened to red HP from Eidolon's miraculous efforts, Psythe easily dispatched him with Vacuum Wave. Afterwards, Josh sent out Wombo again, who was already weakened. Due to the Penguin Pokémon only having a sliver or red HP remaining, Psythe also finished him off using Vacuum Wave. Josh's following Pokémon was Wobbles the Abomasnow, who summoned a Hailstorm from her Snow Warning Ability. On her first turn, she used Protect to stall Psythe and block his Psycho Cut in order to get chip damage from the Hail. The next turn, Psythe landed his planned Psycho Cut, doing slightly more than half of Wobble's health. Wobbles then retaliated with Wood Hammer, defeating him. However, the recoil damage left Wobbles with about a quarter of HP, making it easy for Acrobat to take her out, along with Josh's Machamp: Alex19 to win the battle for Emile.

Episode 61: Jasmine Water[]

Psythe was in the lead spot of the party as Emile traveled north on Route 223 towards the Pokémon League, fighting several trainers on the way. This included Swimmer Miranda, whose Lumineon was easily OHKO'd by Leaf Blade. The next trainer was Swimmer Aubree, who had Bibarel and Azumarill. While Psythe easily defeated the Beaver Pokemon with Leaf Blade, Azumarill endured the hit with a chip of red HP. However, the Aqua Mouse's retaliatory Double Edge only did 29 HP to Psythe, who next used Vacuum Wave to KO it after the recoil damage from Double Edge did not.

Further north on the route, Emile fought Swimmer Oscar. Psythe managed to defeat Oscar's Mantyke in one shot with Leaf Blade. Oscar's Mantine proved more difficult however. It endured Psythe's Leaf Blade in red HP before using Confuse Ray. This caused Psythe to hurt himself due to the confusion, putting him a little over half of his health. After Mantine sprang up, planning to use Bounce, Emile switched out Psythe for Eidolon to finish off the Stingray. Psythe reentered the battle against Oscar's last Pokémon: Remoraid, which easily fell to a Leaf Blade. After the battle, Emile healed Psythe's Hit Points back to full.

Psythe also encountered a wild Pelipper which was at the same level as him: Level 46, thereby negating the Repel's effects. However, Emile merely ran from it. Emile next fought Swimmer Colton. Psythe only took five Hit Points of damage from a Quick Attack by Colton's Wingull, which fainted to one Psycho Cut. Colton's Octillery went down to one Leaf Blade, while his Pelipper took two Leaf Blades to defeat, between which it used Stockpile in vain. As a result of Pelipper's KO, Psythe was raised to Level 47.

Emile then ran into a wild Tentacruel at Level 49. Presumably due to being unable to run, Psythe did no damage to it. As a result, he was weakened down by Tentacruel's Water Pulse and confused, which ultimately caused him to knock himself out, to Emile's dismay. Afterwards, he revived and fully healed Psythe offscreen.

Episode 62: Road to Victory[]

Emile used Psythe as he battled trainers whilst making his way through Victory Road. Psythe took part in the battle with the first trainer: Psychic Bryce, coming out against his Gengar. While the Ghost Type wiped out more than half of his health with Shadow Ball, Psythe's Psycho Cut one shotted it. Psythe then OHKO'd Bryce's Gardevoir with Night Slash to finish the battle. Following the fight with Ace Trainer Mariah, Emile healed Psythe's HP offscreen.

Psythe presumably partook in the omitted battle against Double Team Al and Kay alongside Vanity.

Episode 63: End of the Road[]

As Emile continued through Victory Road, Psythe battled Black Belt Miles and his Machamp, easily one-shotting it with Psycho Cut. The next trainer was Psychic Valencia. While Psythe easily defeated Valencia's Chimecho in one hit with Night Slash, Valencia's Dusknoir endured the same move in yellow health before using Will-O-Wisp to burn him. Luckily, Psythe's following Night Slash got a critical hit, ensuring that Dusknoir went down in spite of his crippled Attack from the burn, which took off a total of 36 Hit Points from Psythe from the two turns it damaged him. As Valencia sent out her Absol, Emile switched out Psythe for Bodhi. Once the battle was over, Emile used a Rawst Berry offscreen to heal Psythe's burn.

Psythe was initially sent out in the fight with Dragon Tamer Ondrej and his Altaria, but was quickly swapped out for Vanity. He also encountered a wild Golbat onscreen one space after Emile's Repel wore off while he was Surfing on a body of water in the cave's lower floor. Psythe didn't do anything, as he simply ran from the Golbat. Psythe likely took part in another battle offscreen against Ace Trainer Henry.

The next trainer Emile fought onscreen was Veteran Edgar, who led with a Porygon-Z. The Normal Type dropped Psythe to 70/148 Hit Points before his Psycho Cut brought it down to the low yellow zone. As Psythe prepared to use another Psycho Cut, Edgar switched over to his Empoleon, whose resistance allowed it to take the hit with 3/4 of its health. The next turn, Emile accidentally ordered Psythe to use Night Slash, only putting Empoleon into the low green zone before the Penguin Pokemon responded with a super effective Drill Peck. Although Psythe endured with 10 HP left and used Leaf Blade on the following turn, the attack failed to KO Empoleon, which survived in the red before its boosted powered Brine attack took him out.

Once Emile exited Victory Road and arrived at the main Pokémon League building, he healed his entire team including Psythe at the Pokémon Center counter in preparation for his sixth battle with Barry. During the battle, Psythe was sent out to fight Barry's Floatzel. The Sea Weasel did 42 HP of damage with Crunch before being one hit KO'd by Leaf Blade. Emile withdrew Psythe and sent out Acrobat when Barry sent out his Roserade. Later in the battle, Psythe retook the field against Barry's last and strongest Pokémon: Infernape after it beat Bodhi. He tried to use Psycho Cut, only to faint when his remaining HP was wiped out by Infernape's critical Shadow Claw. However, Emile won the fight regardless using Vanity.

Episode 64: The Miracle of Bertha[]

While recapping the trainers and items he didn't initially show in Victory Road, Emile noted one of the trainers: Ace Trainer Henry had a Rhydon on his team, which Psythe fought due to being in the lead spot of the party. Offscreen, Emile trained Psythe and the rest of his team up to Level 52 while getting ready for the Elite Four. At Level 50, Psythe tried to learn Protect, but Emile declined. However, Emile taught Brick Break to Psythe using TM31, deleting Vacuum Wave. Additionally, Emile equipped the Razor Claw to boost Psythe's chances of scoring a critical hit, complimenting his three moves with high critical hit ratios: Leaf Blade, Night Slash, and Psycho Cut. Before beginning his Pokemon League challenge, Emile tried to use a Carbos to increase Psythe's base Speed, only to learn that his Speed Effort Values were already at maximum. As a result, Emile instead used it on Eidolon since he was the only member of the team with Speed EVs that weren't maxed out.

Psythe began Emile's battle against the second member of the Elite Four: Bertha, who led with her Whiscash. He swiftly KO'd the Water/Ground Type in one hit using Leaf Blade. Afterwards, Emile swapped out Psythe for Vanity when Bertha sent out her Gliscor.

Episode 65: Lucian Dreams[]

Psythe was Emile's lead Pokémon in his battle against Elite Four Flint. The Fire Type user led with Houndoom, which Psythe OHKO'd using Brick Break. The experience grew Psythe to Level 53, when he learned Close Combat. Emile excitedly overwrote Brick Break for the more powerful Fighting Type move. Psythe was then switched out for Vanity when Flint sent out his Rapidash.

Later in the battle, Psythe was sent out to face Flint's strongest Pokémon: Magmortar. The Fire Type used Solar Beam instantly as a result of Flint's Rapidash setting up a Sunny Day earlier. The attack almost KO'd Psythe in one hit due to a critical. His retaliatory Psycho Cut did about half of Magmortar's health before it was healed back to about 2/3 from its equipped Sitrus Berry. After Emile used a Hyper Potion on Psythe, his HP went down to 110/165 from Magmortar's Thunderbolt. While the Sunny Day faded at the end of the turn, Magmortar's Flamethrower on the following turn still almost KO'd Psythe, leaving him with 29 Hit Points. Psythe's Psycho Cut brought the Blast Pokémon to the low yellow, prompting Flint to use a Full Restore. Using his newly learned Close Combat, Psythe managed to bring Magmortar back into the red zone before he easily fainted on the following turn to another Thunderbolt, as a result of his own low HP on top of the Defense and Special Defense drop from Close Combat.

After Emile defeated Flint, he revived and healed Psythe before challenging the last member of the Elite Four: Lucian. The Psychic Type specialist began with Mr. Mime while Psythe once again started for Emile. Even with Mr. Mime setting up Reflect for a Defense boost on Lucian's side, Psythe knocked it out in one shot using Night Slash when it scored a critical hit. Lucian's next Pokémon was Espeon, which did half of Psythe's HP with a super effective Shadow Ball that lowered his Special Defense as well. However, Psythe also dispatched Espeon in one hit thanks to a critical Night Slash. Emile then switched him out for Supernova when Lucian sent out his Bronzong. Once the battle was over, Emile healed Psythe and the rest of his team to full health again.

Episode 66 [Finale][]

Psythe partook in Emile's battle against Sinnoh League Champion Cynthia, coming out to fight Cynthia's last Pokémon: Milotic. The Tender Pokemon was faster and reduced Psythe to red HP with a critical Surf. He responded with Leaf Blade, taking out more than half of its own HP. After Emile used a Hyper Potion, Psythe took two more Surfs, which dropped him back to the red. He next used one more Leaf Blade to finish off Milotic, winning the battle for Emile.

Psythe and the rest of Emile's team were then inducted into the Sinnoh Hall of Fame.

Bonus 3: Regirock, Regice, & Registeel[]

Psythe battled Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.

Moves[]

Current Moves[]

Previous Moves[]

Name Origin[]

Psythe is a portmanteau of Psychic and Scythe. It was suggested by Dakota Walsh on Twitter, and UDtimburrhog & AussieDragoon on YouTube.

Honorable Mentions[]

  • Susanoo: To compliment Kirlia's Brave Nature and the fact that it often dozes off.
  • Various names inspired by Knights of the Round Table and King Arthur.
  • Sir Comvent: A portmanteau of "circumvent", since Emile struggled with catching a Ralts due to them Teleporting away. Emile didn't choose this name due to it being over the character limit with the space, and the fact that it means something suggestive if spaced a certain way.

Trivia[]

  • Psythe is the first non-starter Fighting type Emile has obtained.
    • Psythe is the second Fighting type Emile used.
  • He is Emile's 5th Psychic type, the others being Mimien, Vui, Saikou, and Jinzou.
  • Psythe is Emile's first Male-only Pokémon.
    • In addition, he is also Emile's first Pokemon that requires a certain gender to evolve.

    • In addition, a Male Gardevoir would be "awkward" to have in his team rather than a Gallade. Especially the whole "Gender Confusion" memes for Gardevoir.
  • Psythe is the third Pokémon to have their evolution canceled, the only others being Khold and Teddy.
  • Psythe is the Emile's 6th Pokémon that could Mega Evolve.
    • The others being Bulbapedia, Moegami, Altair, Pandora, and Billy Bob.
    • Additionally, Psythe is also Emile's 2nd Pokemon that could Mega Evolve in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, the other being Altair. The other four all gained their Mega Evolutions in X and Y.
  • Psythe did not battle in the episode of his capture. Furthermore, his first onscreen use in battle was in Emile's multiplayer battle against Alex and Kellz of The Dex, which was after Psythe evolved into Kirlia. Therefore, Psythe was never used in battle onscreen as a Ralts.
  • Psythe was the 3rd Ralts that Emile tried to capture; the first 2 Male Ralts encountered used Teleport.
  • Emile said that he would rather have Psythe know Mud-Slap than Signal Beam.[1]
  • Psythe (specifically his foot) was originally to appear on Regigigas's artwork by MasaeAnela.[2]
  • Psythe has a Brave nature, which cemented his destiny as a Gallade.
  • He often dozes off.
  • He likes spicy food.
  • Psythe is the 1st Pokemon to utilize False Swipe when catching Non-Ghost type legendaries.
