Risa Carrie "Reese" Wheeler (née Dressler; born November 21, 1976), better known online as Lucahjin, is an American Let's Player, Virtual YouTuber, and artist. She has Let's Played a number of old PC Adventure Games, including entries in the King's Quest series and Leisure Suit Larry. She's also played the games of Team ICO, and various other assorted games, including Barbie Horse Adventure, Ace Attorney and Danganronpa.

Her signature style is a strange mix of incredible cuteness, from both her voice and her unstoppably perky attitude, and her incredibly filthy sense of humor. She frequently hams it up in her videos, and tends to swear and make off-color jokes. She's also undeterred by failure, and is fond of co-opping games with various other YouTube Let's Players. In 2021, she became a Virtual YouTuber.

After participating in two of The Runaway Guys' filler tournaments, she joined them as a full guest for their LPs of LittleBigPlanet and its sequel, as well as being a special guest player on their board playthrough of The Observatory on Fortune Street. She also used to have regular livestreams on Twitch with two main subjects - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Sims 3. The latter in particular has acquired quite a fanbase.

Early life

Risa Dressler was born on November 21, 1976 in Connecticut, United States. According to her, Reese got into gaming because of users Proton Jon (who would later become her husband) and DeceasedCrab. She was a very skilled horseback rider when she was younger.

Let's Playing career

"Welcome! Think of me as your weird, older sister that's reliving all the games she missed out on in her life! Help me play through a million games for the first time, using your direction to finish them! Let's hang out and play games! I will always take game suggestions from my audience, which usually results in me blindly mucking about and swearing a bit. Maybe more than a bit. Reese's first videos were "test" videos, which, as the name implies, tested video and audio recording in preparation for her lets play videos. She began posting true LPs in 2008. The game was called "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" and lasted 6 episodes. Shortly after she began to post "Let's Draws" but after early 2010 stopped posting them.

Reese posts a variety of LPs, including indie games, old DOS box games, Barbie games, and Nintendo games, even the entire King's Quest and Quest of Glory series. She grew in popularity after her posting her Barbie Horse Adventure series with co-star JoshJepson. Since then she has participated numerous Co-Op Let's Plays with other YouTubers, such as Donnabellez, AttackingTucans, NintendoCapriSun, and Chuggaaconroy.

Reese gained another boost in popularity thanks to two video game series in particular; that being Ace Attorney and Danganronpa. On July 25 of 2016, she started playing the Ace Attorney franchise for her channel, claiming that she has "been waiting forever to play this" She has subsequently become hooked on the franchise for it's colorful characters and murder mystery genre. Sha has completed the first 5 games in the franchise, and is currently playing the second spin-off Miles Edgeworth game (Ace Attorney Investigations 2), a character that she is quite fond of.

In April of 2018, she began playing through the Danganronpa series, claiming that because so many of her fans suggested it to her because of the Phoenix Wright games. She has grown to love the series because of its quirky characters and dark, murder mystery tones, as well as the overall mystery that the games are focused around. However, the series' trademark action oriented trail sections, and more brutal and depressing tone has sometimes put her off, she seems to still enjoy the games a lot. Often siting characters like Byakuya Togami, Nagito Komeada and Kokichi Ouma for in jokes and memes during her playthroughs.

VTubing career

Reese's VTuber persona

On 20 October, 2020, Reese tested out VTubing using a model designed by Buffpup. On 16 April, 2021, Reese debuted with a new Horse Mom model designed by eunriie and originally rigged by Buffpup. A brushup rig by BunCha would soon follow once Buffpup stopped doing commissions. On 9 July 2021, a new summer outfit was revealed. On 1 October 2021, she debuted a new nun design as her Halloween outfit. On 3 October 2022, she debuted a Halloween costume based on Lotus from the Zero Escape series. This date is also marks her 14th anniversary of starting Let's Plays. On 2 November 2023, she changed her Twitch name to simply Lucah. On 12 November 2023, she debuted her Horse Mom 2.0 model. On 14 December 2023, she debuted an updated nun outfit for her 2.0 model.

Work with The Runaway Guys

Reese is the first official female guest, and second guest in a main project overall (LittleBigPlanet). Like JoshJepson, she eventually returned for the game's sequel. She also played as Ganondorf in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Peach in Mario Power Tennis, Jigglypuff in Super Smash Bros. 64, Daisy in Fortune Street, Koopa in Mario Kart: Double Dash (on Team PressBallsToContinue with Dodger), and was a participant in the "Super Smash Bros. Wii U" tournament. She also usually helps them with their Thrown Controller panel, usually being the one to pick the contestants.

Chuggaaconroy collaboration

Pikmin 3 - Mission 4- Twilight Hollow with Lucahjin

On October 15th 2015, Reese was a guest feature on episode 6 of Chuggaaconroy's Pikmin 3 Mission Mode series entitled Pikmin 3 - Mission 4: Twilight Hollow with Lucahjin, where they played the Twilight Hollow stage and got the platinum rank. The end of the video features a message from Emile which thanks Reese for doing the collaboration, and noticed that he expected nothing less from someone known for great blind runs and that she did well.

In order to do her LP of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Emile lent her his Gamecube and copy of the game. That means her LP of the game and Emile's were performed using the same console and same copy of the game.

Personal life

Reese was adopted at a young age, She is originally from New England. She later moved to Seattle, and now resides in Canada. After losing an uncle to heart disease, Reese and her followers raised a large sum of money during a Let's Play Twitch.tv stream of the game Okami and donated all proceeds to the American Heart Association in 2012. In February of 2013, Reese and her fans raised over $3,000 for the American Diabetes Association during a 24-hour Let's Play event on Twitch.tv. During an event titled "Bucks For Boobs", Reese succeeded in raising over $8,000 for the American Breast Cancer Association for Research. The event also occurred over Twitch.tv.

Reese is a huge supporter of ablegamers.com, a charity which seeks to better the lives of those who are disabled by allowing them to experience real life situations that may be difficult for them. Because of her own physical disabilities (not often publicly spoken about), she is able to really connect with their mission on an emotional level.

Reese entered a relationship with fellow Let's Player, The Runaway Guys member, and now-transgender woman Claire Wheeler (Proton Jon) on January 7th, unknown year, as they celebrated their anniversary at MagFest. Claire proposed marriage to her at Pax West 2017 and she accepted. They married on September 28, 2018.

Reese and Claire adopted a cat that only has one eye, and Reese was the one who named the cat Bagel. The reason for the name was because of how, when it curls up, it looks like a bagel. Bagel has also been affectionately nicknamed 'Big Boss', after the character from Metal Gear Solid 3, for only having one eye. Reese and Claire later got another cat and named her Eva (continuing the MGS3 reference). Bagel, as it turns out, doesn't like bagels.

Reese has been in Claire's corner in the years prior to Claire coming out, but it's been challenging for her. Being in the closet and not out to many put her in a position where she was unable to talk to anyone about it and her feelings for years. She's been on her own journey while Claire's been on hers, and she saw people putting labels on Reese that don't fit who she is. Reese is cis/het, so Claire asked people to please give her some grace, because like any life changing event, this has its own set of challenges to navigate. Reese and Claire are working through things together with all the love and grace they have, but it's had hurdles for both of them to navigate. Claire hopes Reese can get some support in this as well, so he asked people to please be patient with them while they deal with what comes next with Claire now being out.

• Lucahjin ran into some life troubles with her previous job lost from going out of business, and her home was about to be taken away. Her friends posted a Reese-thon as a surprise for her and with the help of her friends and her own fans, they donated nearly $6,000 to help her out with going to her family to stay until she moved to Seattle.
