Summary[]
In a flash-forward, Emile/Blair gets the Scald TM outside Cold Storage.
In the present, he battles and defeats Clay, the fifth Gym Leader of Unova, using only Ottawa.

- First appearance of Clay's Excadrill.
- The title is a pun on the name of singer Clay Aiken.
- Emile alludes to Clair and Lance when Clay doesn't immediately give him his TM, referencing the events of Pokémon Crystal - Part 36 and Part 37.
- This marks the second time in Black & White a Gym that a Gym Battle was completed solo by a Pokemon, the first being Roc defeating Elesa in Episode 22: Queen Elesa.
- Ottawa had a much easier chance against Clay compared to Roc, as Ottawa the Water-type had a type advantage against Clay's Ground-types whereas Roc risked being one-shot by Elesa's Electric-types being a part-Flying-type.
